Preben Bjerg, Born in Viborg, Denmark 1952
Since early childhood I have experimented with the creative arts; music, poetry, theater, mime, clowning, dance, acrobatics, etc..
I am a self-taught painter and musician. I’ve composed and played music for many years and feel that the paintings come from the same source as the music.
It is a spring that nourishes the poetry, humor, fantasy, play and passion for life. I see that in music, just as in a painting, is a mirror of ourselves – conscious or unconscious. I believe that when a person is enthusiastic, becomes sad or is moved in some way, it is because there is something within that is recognized for maybe just a moment and is allowed to be seen and heard – a little child, a wise thought, a passion or ??? – what ever can be experienced, is in the eye (or mirror) of the beholder..
His style is expressionistic and Preben utilizes clear, playful colors in acrylic on canvas.
His passion for people’s inner universe and the human subconscious shines through his pictures. His goal is to bring the viewer into the realm of the child, of adventure, of poetry and the realm of love – that in this way the art lives on within the viewer, as their own inner stories, songs and emotions. |
